History: Caroline @ the TVD wiki

Personality:
A daughter of one of the founding families of Mystic Falls, Caroline Forbes wears her Southern heritage well. Like her antebellum heroes, she's bubbly, effusive, a confident chatterbox and social butterfly with no night left unfilled in want of a party or a girl's night in; her costume of confidence carries her through at school as well, where she claims her place as the captain of the cheerleading team and epicenter of the teen social scene as the school's undisputed "it girl". She's a pageant queen, the former Miss Mystic Falls, an undisputed overachiever, and even the reigning third grade hopscotch champion. To an outsider, it may appear that there's nothing Caroline Forbes can't do.

Her friendships, her accomplishments, and her popularity aren't the result of money, prestige, or luck, though. Caroline earns what she's raked in — she's an incredible loyal friend, fiercely protective of those she cares for, and devoted to them. Her parties are a Mystic Falls High staple not because of the hostess' home, but because Caroline has earned a reputation for excellence in hosting them. She's got an aptitude for planning, paying attention to every detail and hyperfocusing on every element until each piece is exactly right; this comes into play for everything from homecoming parades to cheerleading practice to simple birthday parties (and later, to bachelorette parties, weddings, and baby showers), and while her friends may occasionally roll their eyes or groan, they oblige her because they know the results are worth it.

But for all her popularity and pep, Caroline has her weaknesses too. Like most young adults, she's insecure in her own worth and prone to bouts of self-pity and melodrama. Petty, immature, and often jealous when good things happen to others, Caroline can't help but compare herself to everyone around her, including her best friend. These aren't unexpected traits, though — they come from wanting, above all else, to be someone's number one pick. After watching boys pick her friends and her father pick his new lover and her mother choose her job, she's understandably insecure about preventing a repeat of what seems to be a never-ending loop.

It's important to note that Caroline is not burying her head in the sand when it comes to her own flaws. She's self-aware, and even though she struggles, she explains (and demonstrates) her desire to change. She doesn't want to be selfish ("a kiddie pool"), she wants to be selfless and giving ("abyss deep"); she doesn't want to be insecure and neurotic and stressed out when she could be confident and happy with the life she leads.

And then, you know. She dies.

After Caroline's death and subsequent vampiric reanimation, her personality is put on overdrive. As she puts it: she becomes "an insecure, neurotic control freak... on crack". Not the kindest description, but not an inaccurate one. Her vampire instincts drive her bloodlust, an insatiable desire to feed, and in the first moments of her new life, Caroline attacks an innocent in order to drink, and then promptly has an emotional breakdown in a public restroom from the overwhelming surge of guilt and terror at her own actions.

While taking a life is not inherently foreign to vampires — they're seen snapping necks and pulling out hearts far too often in canon for that to be the case — Caroline's own deep-seated humanity becomes her saving grace. Her control freak nature drives her to be better than her urges, and though she struggles with it, the friendships she's cultivated and a new-found mentorship in Stefan Salvatore provides a support system as she does her best to remain positive. It's not an easy road, though; she snaps at times (though thankfully with words rather than with necks) and lashes out when she's tired or hurt. Her dedication to perfect control is tested, every day, as she learns what it's like to be a vampire.

Overall, though, Caroline tries to stay positive, and to use this new challenge as an opportunity to make the kind of changes she's always wanted for herself. She focuses on crafting a better life for herself, for her friends, and for her town, showcasing her loyalty, her dedication to others, and her never-ending resolve to be the best version of herself even against the odds. She takes the time to apologize to people she may have hurt, even if it doesn't work in her favor, and to embrace the strengths of her vampire abilities and the purpose they give her amongst her friends.

Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping: for the full canon breakdown, please see the powers section of the TVD wiki.
By definition, vampires are "magically reanimated human corpses which are inhabited by the spirit of the deceased person and who closely resemble the living human they were before their transformation." In laymen's terms, they're the living dead. Vampires require blood of the living to continue on, while their blood serves as the reproduction tool of their supernatural species. A human who dies with vampire blood in their system will be reborn as a vampire — whether or not they drank it willingly or are even aware they've consumed it in the first place.

Among others, non-original vampires are endowed with the following attributes: enhanced strength, speed, agility, senses, and durability (and with it, regeneration & immortality); mind compulsion; and emotional control.

To balance these, vampires also are crippled by the following weaknesses: susceptibility to magic, fire, sunlight, wood, vervain, werewolf bites, and the vampire cure; an inability to enter private homes without invitation; and the threat of sudden death via decapitation or the removal of their hearts.

In Deerington, Caroline's vampire abilities will be warped as follows:

immortality: while still immune to standard "human" illnesses (no seasonal winter flu, no food poisoning), Caroline will be susceptible to the illnesses, injuries, and other maladies of Deerington's supernatural elements. she is, as always, at risk of permadeath from decapitation or having her heart removed.
regeneration/healing blood: Caroline's own healing will be slowed, and her blood's use as a healing balm will require rng rolls (1 for ineffective, 6 for canon-strength) for Extra Drama.
compulsion: while not nerfed completely, compulsion is no longer the get out of jail free card it once was. much like a witch's curse, compulsion creates a painful sensation in the temples, ranging from a dull ache for minor commands to splitting, piercing pain for commands that incur violence or remove memories altogether.
Inventory:
001: a formal outfit, consisting of: one blue floral dress, heels, her daylight ring
002: her mother's handgun, issued by the Mystic Falls police department. if possible, a small assortment of vervain darts designed to fit in the gun, created for her mother by Alaric Saltzman
003: Caroline's Ford Fiesta. in the trunk: one (1) overnight bag outfitted with her makeup bag and three (3) casual outfits, and a small cooler with two (2) blood bags and a single 750ml bottle of bourbon stashed inside.
004: her cell phone. sure, it won't work, but there are plenty of pictures of people she cares about on it. and many guilt-inducing voicemails.
005: a small snowglobe that depicts Mystic Falls in the winter, for no other reason than to make her feel things.
006: as a throwback: her cheerleader outfit, including pom-poms.
